Try Me is the sixth solo album by Billy Burnette, released in 1985. It was the first of two albums he released on Curb Records along with Soldier of Love (1986). Burnette's future Fleetwood Mac colleagues Mick Fleetwood and Christine McVie both guested on the album,McVie on the ballad "It Ain't Over".
Four songs were co-written with guitarist Steve Cropper, best known for being a member of Booker T and the MGs as well as for being guitarist and co-writer on such legengary soul tracks as Wilson Pickett's In the Midnight Hour, Eddie Floyd's Knock on Wood and Otis Redding's (Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay, the latter of which had been covered by Burnette on his 1979 album Between Friends.
The song I'm Not Me had previously been performed by Burnette with Mick Fleetwood's Zoo on their 1983 album of the same name. Ain't It Just Like Love and the title track were released as singles and peaked on the Billboard Country charts at #51 and #68 respectively.
The Letter was a cover of the 1967 hit by the Box Tops.
