Temporary One is a song written by Christine McVie and Eddy Quintela and performed by McVie with Fleetwood Mac for their live album The Dance in 1997. Like her earlier song Homeward Bound (1972), it addresses issues of homesickness and also alludes to missing Quintela, her husband at the time, while touring.
The song proved to be prophetic for McVie announced her departure from Fleetwood Mac in 1998. For the next sixteen years she lived in almost complete retirement, apart from issuing a solo album, In the Meantime, in 2004.
McVie rejoined Fleetwood Mac in 2014 but no new material has been issued under the group name since then so Temporary One remains her last contribution to the group to date.
