String-a-Long is a song written by songwriter Jimmy Duncan and jazz vocalist Robert Glen “Bobby” Doyle.
The first release was by Fabian in 1959. This made the US Top 40 but the song gained more prominence in 1963 when covered by Ricky Nelson and reaching #25.
The song was covered by Jeremy Spencer for his self-titled solo debut (1970). Because Peter Green guested on the track, playing banjo, the full line-up of musicians effectively made the recording a Fleetwood Mac track and earned it a place on 25 Years: The Chain (1992).
