Fleetwood Mac Wiki

Stop Messin' Round is the first song on Mr. Wonderful.

It is a song written by Peter Green (with additional credit to Clifford Adams) and recorded by him with Fleetwood Mac. It first appeared in July 1968 on the b-side of Need Your Love So Bad but gained longer term exposure when included on their second album Mr. Wonderful released the following month. It became one of the band's most popular songs and was featured on the 1971 Greatest Hits album.

The song was re-introduced to the band's live set over the 1987-90 period with then-lead guitarist Rick Vito providing the lead vocal. Christine McVie who had played piano as a session musician on the original was by now a full member of the band meaning that performances included three of the musicians who had played on the original, a rare distinction for Peter Green's material after he had left the band.

The song also gained fresh exposure when covered by Gary Moore on his 1990 album Still Got the Blues. Moore would also record an acoustic version as a bonus track for a CD single in 1995.
