Sara is a song written by Stevie Nicks and performed by her with Fleetwood Mac on their 1979 double album Tusk.
The lyrics partly allude to the abortion of a child Nicks had concieved by Don Henley of the Eagles - she had planned to name the baby Sara had it been a girl. Henley has corroborated this but Nicks maintains this was only part of the story behind the song. The "great dark wing" mentioned in the lyric is a reference to Mick Fleetwood with whom she was in a relationship at the time. Sara was also the name of Nicks's friend Sara Recor who would later become Fleetwood's second wife.
Released as the second single from the album, it peaked at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 as well as charting in other territories.
A shorter version of the song featured on the original CD pressings of Tusk but the full version featured on compilations and on the 2004 and 2015 remasters of the album.
