Oh Diane is a song written by Lindsey Buckingham and Richard Dashut and recorded by Buckingham with Fleetwood Mac for their 1982 album Mirage. Buckingham and Dashut were also the album's producers.
The song is written in the style of 1950s rock 'n' roll, the title being an echo of Paul Anka's hit Diana. Buckingham handled all guitars and keyboards.
Not generally thought of as a major Mac classic and never performed by them or Buckingham as a solo artist at live shows, the song nonetheless was a surprise hit for them in the United Kingdom where it was released as the third single from the album. It peaked at #9, propelled by a TV appearance by the band miming to the song. It also went to #8 in Ireland and #46 in Germany and was a minor hit through airplay on the US Adult Contemporary chart.
The only time it ever appeared on a compilation was the CD and cassette edition of the European/Australian release of the 1988 Greatest Hits album.
