Man of the World is a song by Peter Green, released as Fleetwood Mac's fifth single on April 3rd 1969. A short melancholy piece it details Green's deep depression and longing for companionship even in the midst of his great success.
It was released on Immediate Records, the label owned by the Rolling Stones' manager Andrew Loog Oldham. All the bands earlier releases had been on Blue Horizon and most later releases would be on Warner Brothers or their subsidiary Reprise. Like the earlier Blue Horizon releases, the record was produced by Mike Vernon, the last time he would do so for the band.
The single's b-side was Jeremy Spencer's Somebody's Gonna Get Their Head Kicked In Tonite, performed by the band under the alias of Earl Vince and the Valiants.
The single peaked at No 2 on the UK chart, only being held off the top spot by the Beatles' Get Back.
