In the Back of My Mind is a song written by Billy Burnette and David Malloy and recorded by Burnette with Fleetwood Mac for their 1990 album Behind the Mask (album).
The song is performed very dramatically, beginning with eerie spoken word and percussion effects from Mick Fleetwood before giving way to a guitar solo. The verses feature Stevie Nicks replying to Burnette's lead in the second person. Christine McVie sings solo on the middle eight.
Released as a single in European countries its only impact was peaking at #58 in the UK.
The song was used to open concerts on the Behind the Mask tour before segueing into usual opening number The Chain.
The vinyl edition b-side and some CD singles featured the spoken word piece Lizard People.
