Free Fallin' is a song written by Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne and recorded for Petty's 1989 solo album Full Moon Fever. Released as the third single, from the album it peaked at #7 in the US.
Like the rest of the album, the song did not feature Petty's backing band the Heartbreakers but did feature their lead guitarist Mike Campbell.
Stevie Nicks covered the song for the soundtrack of the film Party of One in 1996.
In 2018, when Mike Campbell joined Fleetwood Mac, the song was added to the band's live set with Nicks on lead vocal and giving Campbell a continued legacy of playing on the song after Petty's death.
