Fleetwood Mac is an instrumental piece composed by Peter Green and recorded by him with John McVie and Mick Fleetwood in 1967. The three were members of John Mayall's Bluesbreakers at the time. Mayall had awarded Green some studio time during which Green announced to McVie and Fleetwood that he had composed a piece named after his favourite rhythm section, the Mac part of the title alluding to McVie.
The piece gave its name to the group that Green would form later that year which also included Fleetwood and eventually McVie, both of whom have recorded and toured together with various line-ups under the Fleetwood Mac name ever since.
The piece made its first appearance on the 1971 archive release The Original Fleetwood Mac.
