Ebony Eyes is a song written and recorded by Bob Welch for his 1977 album French Kiss.
The song featured backing vocals from country singer Juice Newton and string arrangements by Gene Page.
Released as the follow-up to the successful Sentimental Lady, it reached #14 in America. It fared even better in other English-speaking countries, reaching #9 in New Zealand, #7 in Canada and even #2 in Australia for four weeks.
Welch's performance of the song at California Jam on March 18th 1978 saw him joined onstage by Stevie Nicks and Mick Fleetwood. Future Fleetwood Mac member Dave Mason was also on the bill.
A live version from 1981 can be heard on the Live From the Roxy album. Welch also rerecorded the song for His Fleetwood Mac Years and Beyond (2003).
