Crystal is a song written by Stevie Nicks. Its first recording was with Lindsey Buckingham on the Buckingham Nicks album in 1973. It was recorded again after Nicks and Buckingham had joined Fleetwood Mac on their self-titled 1975 album.
The two albums shared a producer in Keith Olsen and on both occasions he insisted that Buckingham handle the lead vocal. Nicks did not get to sing her own song on record until 1998 for the soundtrack of the film Practical Magic. This version featured backing vocals from her friend Sheryl Crow.
